Cllr Jacqui Rayment has represented Bevois ward for over 29 years. She first stood for election after living in the ward and witnessing the concerns residents faced, which inspired her to enter politics.
Over her long service she has held a variety of roles and is especially proud to have been the first Lord Mayor of Southampton in 2022/23. She now chairs the Governance Committee.
Jacqui was a member of the Police Authority for several years and retains a strong interest in policing and community safety. She is also passionate about housing, shaped by her own experience of raising children on a council estate and understanding first-hand the challenges many families face.
Jacqui is the Council’s Veterans and Armed Forces Champion and takes great pride in supporting events that celebrate Southampton’s seafaring heritage and ongoing links with the Royal British Legion.
Jacqui lives in Shirley with her husband. She is a mother and grandmother to seven grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and travelling, having visited many countries around the world.
For Jacqui, public service is about giving back, standing up for those who need support, and ensuring that Southampton is a safe, fair, and inclusive city for all
