Cllr Alice Kloker was elected to represent Shirley ward in 2024. She served on the Oversight and Scrutiny Management Committee
in her first year and now sits on Licensing.
Alice leads the Public Engagement Team at the National Oceanography Centre, having joined in 2022. Before that, she worked for nearly a decade at Solent University in global partnerships and programme development. Originally from overseas, Alice moved to
Southampton in 2013 with her husband — a competitive curler and Professor of International Relations — and became a British
citizen in 2020 so she could vote and take a more active role in her community. Outside of work, Alice enjoys open water swimming, exploring new walking trails, and is teaching herself the ukulele.
Alice stood for election to give back to the city that welcomed her, and to serve the residents of Shirley, where she has lived since
2014. She is proud to represent a vibrant, diverse, and green part of the city and is a keen advocate for Shirley Pond Park, which has
seen major improvements in recent years. Alice is passionate about community engagement, inclusivity, and protecting local spaces that bring people together.
